
Kuhistoni Mastchoh district
Kuhistoni Mastchoh is located along the bank of Zarafshan River between Turkistan and Zarafshan Range of mountains. It is situated on southern and eastern part of Sugd province. It has a border with Ganchi district, Sugd province and Kyrgyz Republic from north and with Yagnob village from south. From west it has a border with Ayni district and from east – with Garm district. Villages of Ronj, Guving are located on the height of 3476 meters, Hadishahr – 3600 meters, Revomutk, Langar – 4000 meters, Padask – 4100 meters, Dehmanora – 4600 meters, Paldorak – 3980 meters, Langlif, Dehavz and Dehisor – 4130 meters above sea level.
The overall area of the district is 3.68 square meters
Climate of Kuhistoni Mastchoh is very continental with fresh and dry winter and rainy summer.
Location of Kuhistoni Mastchoh with its mountainous relief and climatic features makes it to be heavily accessible and insolated area that has an affect on its economic and social development. This has an impact on lifestyle of local people as well.
Population is 19 137, including 9 389 women.
Administrative division of the district consists of two jamoats: Ivan Tojik and Langar that has population of 11 479 and 7 658 respectively.
Kuhistoni Mastchoh is district with agrarian specialization where 34 collective dehkhan farms, 25 individual farms and 3328 households are effective. The overall area of irrigated lands is 2000 ha. Key areas of agricultural activities are represented by livestock raising, potato planting, gardening and grain growing.
The district has 2 hospitals which form a central district hospital, 2 rural ambulances, 13 medical houses and 6 of which were built at the expense of ADB.
